Lagoona
Bay Stud is one of the new players in the cattle industry. It is located
in Amamoor just 10 minutes to Gympie and 40 minutes to Noosa. We started
with a purchase of 10 female studs in the 2000 Female Sale at Gympie.
A year later, more were purchased from dispersal Sale. To built its
herd, an aggressive 5 year plan was put in place to purchase quality
studs to include Giunda, Saddleback and JBM studs. Recent additions
to the herd included:
Purchase of 16 female studs in calf in the recent Ivanhoe Dispersal
Sale 2006.
Purchase of stud bull : Amavale Turbo – Ivanhoe Dispersal Sale
2006.
Purchase of Glenlands Imparja – highest paid bull in Glenlands
2005 Sale.
In 2002, Lagoona Bay Stud purchased its first bull, Haigslea Billy,
and soon after that were I-BAR 456, Guinda 456, Guinda 800 and Comanche
1596-3. Lagoona Bay also began its Artificial Insemination (AI) program
breeding. Sperms were bought off Talgi Impact and used existing sperm
off Haigslea Billy.
In 2005, Lagoona Bay Stud purchased the highest priced ( $52,500 )
bull at the Glenlands sale with the addition of Glenlands Imparja.
Our goal is to breed quality Lagoona Bay Stud herd from quality selected
traits to produce excellent meat quality, docility and high fertility.
Keep an eye out as we showcase the first of our Lagoona Bay Studs
in upcoming sales, scheduled paddock sales, and show exhibitions. See
Calendar events page for dates.
